Prizewinners at this Year's German National Foreign Language Competition
On Monday, May 14th, 2012, the prize winners of this year’s Foreign Language Competition were honored in the plenar hall of the Saxon State Parliament. 890 students took part in the Saxon statewide competition held at 92 schools.

Student exchange France
Im Rahmen des Schüleraustausches, den 28 Schüler der neunten Klassen im September 2010 in der Partnerschule in Morteau erlebten, besuchten uns unsere französischen Austauschschüler vom 07.04 - 15.04.2011 in Pirna. Zweck war für sie genauso wie für uns, die Sprachkenntnisse zwanglos anzuwenden und zu verbessern. Zudem sollten die Besonderheiten und die Lebensweise des Landes näher gebracht werden. Der Schüleraustausch beinhaltete interessante Exkursionen in der Gegend, sowie nach Prag und in die Hauptstadt Berlin.

Christmas concert 2008
Pünktlich begrüßte der kleine Chor des Gymnasiums, bestehend aus Sängern und Sängerinnen der Klassen 5 – 7, die zahlreich erschienenen Gäste mit „Guten Abend, schön Abend“ und animierte das Publikum zum Mitsingen. Den Abschluss des ersten Teils der Veranstaltung bildete der gelungene Auftritt der Theatergruppe der Schule mit dem Stück „Die Weihnachtsgeschichte“ von Charles Dickens. Der zweite Teil des Konzertes bestach durch musikalisch hochwertige Darbietungen von musikalischer Vielfalt. Klezmer-Musik wechselte sich ab mit der Darbietung klassischer Musik, Angejazztes mit Ernstem.

Student exchange - Morteau 2012
This year, we were able to take 25 nine-graders on our trip to Morteau from October 10 to October 18, 2012. Our students were warmly welcomed by their exchange partners (Corres) and their families. Language barriers started to break down, and when the students had dinner with their host families, the fear of speaking a foreign language was gone.

Christmas Concert 2012
The traditional Christmas concert took place in the hall of our school on Tuesday, December 11, 2012. The students presented themselves through a variety of performances such as music, singing, readings and skits.

Poems - an entirely different approach
A poetry workshop with eight real poets from the Czech Republic and Germany awaited us but none of us had a clue what to expect. On Monday, November 26, 2012, some young and some older authors, who were nominated for the Dresden Literary Prize, welcomed us in the school library. Of course, only one of them won it, and he also spend some time with us.

Reward trip to Prague
The best students from binational grades 7 to 12 are will travel to Prague on December 13. They are going to visit the Strahov Monastery, the State Department, the Saxon Liaison office and the Christmas market in the old town. It is a traditional trip, on which the students will be joined by the Czech Consul General. The journey is sponsored by RVD Fernbuslinien.

Naming ceremony in the boarding house
On November 13, 2012, a ceremony to celebrate the naming of the small hall of the binational boarding house of Friedrich Schiller Gymnasium took place. Numerous personalities from the political and cultural sectors accepted the invitation.

Grade 7/5’s environmental project in the Czech Republic
From October 8 to 12, 2012, grade 7/5 together with their teachers Ms. Geppert and Ms. Haupt and some Czech students stayed in the Czech Republic in order to carry out an environmental project. After a three-hour ride, we arrived at Lesná. On the first day we tried out geocaching in the forest. After all this walking we had dinner, which is a real feast in the Czech Republic. After dinner we went to the second house where we played games and created our profiles in German and Czech
